The eight films competing for MMFF 2010

The biggest annual film festival in the Philippines, the Metro Manila Film Festival, presents its eight finalists for 2010:

Ang Agimat ni Enteng (starring Bong Revilla and Vic Sotto)
Directed by Rico Gutierrez and Tony Reyes, two Box Office fantasy franchises coalesce for one possibly very magical treat. Produced by: GMA Films.

Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin (Last Na To!) (starring Ai-Ai de las Alas and Eugene Domingo)
Ina and her basketball team of children are back for what could probably be the last installment of the Ang Tanging Ina franchise. (Now can we really trust movie titles?) Directed by: Wenn Deramas. Produced by: Star Cinema.

Dalaw (starring Kris Aquino, Coco Martin, and Diether Ocampo)
A suki of Philippine horror, Kris Aquino returns to the cinemas for another suspense thriller treat. Directed by: Jerry Lopez Sineneg. Produced by: Cine Media.

Father Jejemon (starring Dolphy, Erich Gonzales, and Maja Salvador)
A popular meme that originated from the internet, ‘jejemon’ now makes it way to the movie industry. How or why they let it, we have to wait til December to find out. Directed by: Frank Gray Jr. Produced by: RVQ.

Rosario (starring Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn Mercado, and Sid Lucero)
Here’s one that defies the boundaries of time. Directed by Albert Martinez, Rosario unearths a true story from the 1920s. Produced by Cine Mabuhay.

RPG Metanoia (starring Aga Mulach and Zaijan Jaranillo)
The first full 3D Filipino animation features the voices of Aga Mulach, Zaijan Jaranillo, Mika dela Cruz, Vhong Navarro, and Eugene Domingo. Directed by: Louie Suarez. Produced by: Star Cinema and Ambient Media.

Shake, Rattle, and Roll XII (starring Carla Abellana, Andi Eigenman, Shaina Magdayao, and Rayver Cruz)
The twelfth installment to the longest and oldest horror film series in the Philippines is directed by Don Michael Perez and Topel Lee. Produced by: Regal Films.

Super Inday and the Magic Bibe (starring Marian Rivera, Jake Cuenca, and Vice Ganda)
The current Queen of Philippine Primetime Marian Rivera stars in the remake of the 1988 Maricel Soriano film Super Inday. Directed by: Mike Tuviera. Produced by: Regal Films.

An understudy film was also announced – Ana Salamanca (starring ZsaZsa Padilla) – just in case, certain problems prevent any one of the eight finalists to push through.

The 36th year of the film festival will be celebrated December 25, 2010 to January 7, 2011 with films to be shown in various cinemas across the country.
