iAds: Advertising in Apple's apps

"Every brand has a great story to tell."

And might as well tell it through one of the biggest manufacturers of the most sought-after gadgets in the world. Introducing iAd for Brands, Apple's way of extending the love to advertisers.

How does it work? Access iPhone and iTouch (and iPad?) users through ads incorporated within billions of apps in the Apple Store. It's pretty much like online ads except it's more convenient.

Don't you hate it when you accidentally click on an embedded advertisement and it takes you out of the app you're currently using? Consumers do and now Apple solves the problem. iAd displays full-screen video and interactive content without ever leaving the app. The ads will appear as top banners which will only expand when tapped.

Target. Apple makes use of what is called interest category marketing. There's really no simpler way to term it, it's self-explanatory.

Engage. When buying an iAd spot, the main rule is this: Don't be boring. It's not Google AdWords - splash some interesting elements, make it interactive. Engage with consumers in a way that they would not consider the ad obstructive.

"How will I know if iAd works for my brand?" Apple uses standard metrics for measuring impression, taps, unique visits, interactions, conversions and downloads.

Oh and you don't have to worry about assembling your iAd, Apple came up with a solution for that too: check out the iAd Producer.

Interesting, ain't it? Now we wonder what Steve Jobs and his people will think of next. (iPad 3 and iPhone 5 aside, those are no-brainers.)
