Oscar 2011 Winners

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards, the biggest night for Hollywood movies, concluded yesterday (Sunday, February 27 in the States) at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Colin Firth (The King's Speech) and Natalie Portman (Black Swan) took home the most coveted Oscars for actors, while Melissa Leo and Christian Bale of The Fighter brought home the second most.

Christopher Nolan's Inception did not end up with Best Picture but nonetheless, it was one of the most awarded that night with Oscars for Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Visual Effects. The Mark Zuckerberg semi-fiction biography The Social Network is third in the running with Film Editing, Original Score, and Adapted Screenplay. Alice in Wonderland won Art Direction and Costume Design.

The biggest winner of the night is The King's Speech, taking home Best Picture, Original Screenplay and Best Director for Tom Hooper.

Best Original Song and Animated Feature went to Toy Story 3. Shaun Tan's The Lost Thing won Best Animated Short. Other winners included God of Love for Best Short Film, The Wolf Man for Makeup, Denmark's In a Better World for Best Foreign and Inside Job for Best Documentary.

The show was hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Franco is nominated in the Best Actor category for his portrayal of Aron Ralston in the true-to-life film, 127 Hours. Hathaway's Alice in Wonderland was nominated for three awards, which it won two out of three.
